Cutimed® Alginate is a sterile, non-medicated alginate wound dressing composed primarily of calcium alginate fibres derived from natural seaweed. Designed with a hidden integrity layer that provides high wet stability, this dressing is intended for the management of moderately to highly exuding wounds, including surface trauma, cavity wounds, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, venous and arterial leg ulcers, donor sites, and post-surgical wounds. Upon contact with wound exudate, the dressing forms a soft gel that adapts to the wound bed, helping to minimise dead space, which is particularly beneficial for deep wounds and wounds with cavities. Cutimed® Alginate can remain in situ for up to seven days, depending on the patient's condition, the level of exudate, and the saturation of the secondary dressing. It is also suitable for use under compression bandages. The dressing is designed for easy removal in one piece due to its high wet tensile strength, and it facilitates a moist wound environment. A suitable secondary dressing is required to secure and cover the primary dressing during use. Always follow local clinical protocols for wound preparation, application, and dressing changes.
